This image was created using a technique called "Light Painting". With the camera in Bulb I used a flashlight and minimal ambient light to "Paint" the image you see. Opening the doors, illuminating the engine, closing the doors, and illuminating the body created the transparent look. Let me stress, this is NOT a photoshop fake! It the real, old school, deal. Lots of fun! I highly recommend trying it. ISO 100, f/9, 7.9min exposure.

I should probably specify...haha..I recommend trying the technique on a machine (ie tractor, car, etc) not necessarily on a locomotive. I am an employee of the railroad and had permission to be there. I DO NOT condone trespassing.
