Digital Printing with HP 7760
Hello all, and happy holidays:
I'm new to this forum and am looking for some, "fine tuning" assistance with the referenced printer. After 20+ years of 35 mm photography, I received my first digital camera, (a Nikon Cool Pix 4300) last spring and have accumulated a significant amount of images yet to be printed (it's convenient and quick for color snapshots - I think I'll be using my mechanical SLR's primarily for B&W now so as to continue some remnant of a traditional darkroom - I'm told the 7760 and 7960 do very well with BW printing, needless to say a slide / negative scanner is next on my digital hit list).
Anyway, my present mission is to print about 75 4X6 snapshots that I now have stored on the computer - I keep these in albums for the kids - they're a riot to look at when one's grown!. I set up the 7760 and have managed to print three images that look, well - OK, however the color saturation is not nearly as good as the monitor image, or, the stuff I've gotten back from Kodak in the past. Presently, I have NO digital photography software and suspect that this is part of the problem as the supplied HP product only allows for color and contrast correction (and it appears to be somewhat lame, though I may be missing something).
The supplied manual gets one started, however doesn't offer much assistance with regard to image quality.
If anybody has suggestions as to how I can improve print quality, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks very much for your time and assistance!
