Picture Printing

Just wondering, how many of you print your own digital pictures for display? What kind of printer do you use? If you dont print your own where do you go to have them printed? And how do you know how large you can print a digital picture? For example if you are sending off an image to be printed what test can you do with the picture in your computer to see if it will look good at a certain size?

Thanks I do love this forum and all you shutter bugs are amazing in the pictures you take...really there are really some amazing photographers on this site. Thanks for all your help.

I do my own prints most of the time. Sometime if I have a lot of 4x6 prints to do, I will tale them to Wal-Mart and use the Kodak kiosk.

I use a HP 7350 PhotoSmart printer at home. Using my Olympus C-5050 or Canon EOS 10D, I can easily do 8x10 prints. I use premium glossy paper.

Prints of any larger size and I have to take them somewhere such as a camera store set up to do them since my printer is limited to 8x10.

I used to print my own pictures but since some time now, the quality of my printer is going down. Not good enough anymore for prints. Anyway, I still have some full cartridges left and when they are empty, I'll buy a new printer.
For my prints, I go to the local shop. Until now, they do a good job (however, they not really cheap).
