Question Ni-MH Battery Confusion

hi,
My camera (Nikon Coolpix 3100) uses EN-MH1 Ni-MH rechargeable Batteries from Nikon with a min. 2000mAh, whatever that means. I was wondering if I could use other brand rechargeable Ni-MH. I've notice that other brands
have 1400mAh and without the "EN-MH1" in them. Does it mean that they won't work with my camera cause it uses 2000mAh? Or is it safe to use any other rechargeable Ni-MH batteries regardless of their "mAh"? How about off-the shelf Alkaline batteries, will they work on my camera?

Please help. Thank you very much.

The mAh is an indication of the capacity of the battery. The more mAh a battery has, the more pictures you can make. However you should be carefull using other types of batteries. The voltage should be according to the specification of the camera. In any case, you should ask your supplier in case of doubt.

Hi

I use all sorts of battery's in my camera, a Fuji Finepix 602Z. The 2000 have more power to store. Use of a 1600 is just a half hour less power, depending on use of course.
