William
I thin is is a nice shot. Top frame the flower diagonal gives it dynamism. The idea of combining B&W and color is very appealing to me.
On this particular case I would say more work is needed on the masking. You can actually see color bornes where it is supposed to be B&W, as well as some artifacts and burred borders on the petals. I realize this is a complex subject to mask, because of the form of the flower. You will need heavy magnification and steady hand with your mouse, or even better a grahic tablet. I have never used this technique on complex subjects like this, mainly because I cannot get the mask perfect.
I think the border you chose is not the right one for the pic. Perhaps a more formal border will help to emphasize the photo IMHO.
Overall I would say it is an intesresting photo and a well done job. Can it be improved? Yes, of course. Should you dicard this photo? No, it is nice one. Thanks for sharing it!

Hi IcarusFree,
Thanks for pointing out the improvements in the photo . I was getting a little lazy and tired from the tedious tasks of getting the mask perfect (it was midnight yesterday night when I did this) and the results speaks for itself . This is also my first attempt at combining B&W and color in a photo in PS.
Best Regards!
William.

Hi William,
That's a nice piece of creative work there. Bravo !
The red hibiscus goes well with your B&W choice. I do however agree with IcarusFree on the framing and masking, but as you have explained why, I understand now
Another point I found is that when you do a complete 180° rotation, it seems a lot more dynamic to me. Does it to you ?
On the masking side, personally when small details are to be masked I use PhotoShop's pen tool.
Here's a macro of a hibiscus I took recently.

Hi RVB Pix,
Thanks so much for your comments and suggestions. I went back and did the 180 degree rotation on my image but it didn't look as good as the one you posted below.
I have to keep that perspective in mind the next time I shoot these flowers. BTW, I like your macro shot of the hibiscus.
Best Regards!
William

Dear Sunny,
Thanks! The learning curve for PS to be a really proficient user is quite something, at least for myself . Do post and share some of your works in this forum as well.
Best Regards!
