great news
US$20 for 100MB sounds fair... What will happen with the "free" quota we have on our standard galleries? Will that be added to the premium?

We would be happy to transfer all or part of your free space to your premium gallery if you want

so with premium gallery, the space we have now would definately be included with a premium subscription?..Also we can make it so others may not view or leave comments and ratings if we don't want them?...If all is applicable sounds to me its a win win situation..also is there still a 2 meg limit upload size?..
thanks in advance dug

Doug,
The inclusion of your free gallery space into the premium would be at the members request and can be done easily... But it would not be the default setup …. The premium gallery does not allow ‘numeric ratings’ of photos but does allow written comments … how you choose to structure your albums would play a great deal as to how much uninvited traffic your gallery would receive.. Additionally you may have private albums … the current file upload size is 3.5 Megs for the ‘power plan’ premium gallery which essentially is your free space plus the ‘intermediate plan’

thanks Paul...all my questions are answered....I think the option that will sell me is the option of not having uninvited comments etc..once again thanks for a quick response

The first two links in the first post in this thread do not work - "View premium gallery features", "Visit premium gallery". I guessed that I needed to remove the "www." at the start of the URL for it to work correctly, but I wonder how many potential customers you've turned away with these sloppy mistakes (broken links on a commercial site).
Additionally, when I finally found the correct pages containing a table of photo gallery features, I see no mention of one basic feature --- whether or not the premium membership supports direct linking of images when the user wants to add an image to, for example, a post on an external photography forum.
No need to reply to this message, my initial experience here has driven me over to pBase.com.

zapped I’m sorry that you are choosing to bash this site as opposed to bringing something of this nature to my attention … the problem with the www revolves around the recent move of this site to a dedicated server and the need to change name servers and IP addresses along with the move … this was discussed here http://www.bytephoto.com/forums/t1371.html
If your quickness to find fault – your 1st post – is indicative of how you handle your self online … I’d recommend that you go elsewhere …
We have worked long and hard are spending a fair amount on the new server in an effort to build a friendly online community.. And I doubt from your 1st post that you the friendly sort….

My Findings
I have now started my premium gallery and I found the set up very painless. The album admin option is easy to use and you can setup different albums as private or public and the ability to upload numerous images in one go and move them into different albums during upload is very useful.
Picture Posting to other sites and forums is also supported.
Thanks to Ruth for sharing how to display the thumbnail next to the album titles as well.
Overall I found it easy to set up, easy to use and very proffesional looking and compared with other sites on the web pretty good value for money.
If anyone wants to take a look then heres the link. Maybe in time I will be able to stick some decent pics in it as well.

Thanks to Paul for his help during set up. Keep up the good work.
Matt

Matt thank you for your support
...... It looks as though most of the DNS issues from the server changes are cleared up … the premium galleries are now responding to both http://www.gallery.bytephoto.com
http://gallery.bytephoto.com
It is also no longer required to have the trailing slash on the personalized URLs see Ruth’s gallery link as a sample > http://www.bytegallery.com/rct4905

premium links
Paul,
I found that I had no problem linking to my gallery via http://www.bytegallery.com/rct4905
The couple times it didnt work was when I typed it in at the office because someone asked to see the link. At work we currently used Netscape 4.79. But when I tried it on IE which we have too, it worked perfectly. So I figured it was just NS 4.79 that couldnt handle it.
I have no problems with my premium gallery. I'm a happy Byte Camper

Matt and Ruth, thanks for your support.
Zapped - normally we ask before complaining, but I see you don't have the 'savoir vivre' to do this.

Premium Gallery Questions
I think I have registered for the premium gallery, but I believe it takes a bit of time before I get a member number etc and a finalized account set up.
Will I be able to do the same sort of stuff on the premium, as in, submit photos to the contests etc?
Also, I noticed there was some sort of Personal Website Gallery Pro that you could get...how much is that and how do you order it?
Looking forward to having a gallery of my own.
Thanks for info in advanced.
Nathalie
