Attention...Info about Paul
OK.... I spoke in Detail to Paul this evening... He is deeply sorry for the inconsistancies at byte and feels horrible.
He has been really slammed in his personal life and stated that he owes the members of byte much more than he has been able to give lately....However...He has found a solution to the problem and feels that this will no longer be an issue.
He did ask me to ask you how we can move forward at this point... Should he just pick six from all of the photos in the gallery and then start over again next Sunday?
Please give him your input on the best way to move forward from here.... He is willing to listen and is going to be online tonight to try to clear things up.
Cheers, Joe

I would say choose six from what is posted now, then start over next week.
Glad to hear that everything will be back to normal soon.
Kevin

I agree with Kevin. Let's keep it simple.
We can always repost stuff we think was good but never made it because of the hiccup.
thanks, Joe. I appreciate your initiative. And thank you, Paul. I hope your personal life finds a level place soon. You have my best wishes always.
Sheila

I posted this in the potw archive as well … but this may be a better place to come to consensus … so I’m reposting here
------------
I know that no apology I can provide .. will be sufficient .. for the lack of stewardship I have shown in the past few weeks ..
I want to thank all of you for your concerns … and particularly Joe for his call tonight … it meant a lot ..
I have moved all of the photos from before 9/28 to http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/...ery.php?cat=861
And all of the photos 9/28 and later into the main contest category ..
Please give me a consensus on how you what to administer the past few weeks contests … and I’ll do my best to please all of you
Moving forward the contest will be handled administered Sundays …

Paul, Thanks - communication is key.
Joe, good job.
Now let's get back to posting.

Thanks everyone
I would think that the easy answer is to just pick six from all of the photos and start fresh Sunday. It is already Thursday.
And....If anyone feels that they want to repost a shot to a later contest they can.
Just my 2 cents
Cheers, Joe

i agree that for any contest period where "no contest occurred" one should be free to repost. The only problem is that most post for comments, not just to win, so I suggest that any re-post contestant be free to also post 2 new entries , so fresh feedback will flow.

Paul, thanks for returning. If you ever need help in the future, we all want to help.
Joe, we all owe you one!
I'm for starting new finalists from this week's entries. I think those that had shots in the "missed" weeks should be able to repost in the contest with the caveat that they will probably not recieve additional comment/critques (unless the shot was edited), and therefore just a "contest" entry.
Sam

Paul, I'm glad to see you back as well. As Sam said, please feel free to lean on us a bit in the future - I think we're as devoted to seeing this site survive as you are.
As for the contest, I think the top 6 should be picked from all available shots for the finals. My instinct is that anyone who had more than 2 in that pool should be allowed to re-enter any, but that might be hard to police, so I guess the easiest way would be that any non-finalist could be re-entered.

Excellent...nice to know all is well with Paul and that this site will be going ahead. Wonderful work by Joe there for phoning him up.
Who did you you say went to the trouble of finding Paul's telephone details and emailing them to you Joe?
Whoever that was should maybe have gotten a small word of thanks as well for having been concerned enough to go to all that trouble. Was it perhaps Sheila?
Fare Well.
4 ever

Freds was the clever one that found all of Pauls contact numbers...I simply just called him.
I hope we can all go back to being excited about the site...The site is what WE make of it too.
Cheers, joe

I'd start fresh with this week too and, risking the wrath of my fellow photographers, I'd suggest that people don't repost for the contest. If there was a prize involved then yes, that would be fine. But the prize here is recognition among the peers. Comments continued and feedback was good even during the 'lack of stewardship' so that recognition continued. I'd suggest we just move forward and post our new photos and go from there. It will be a lot easier for all to administer and carry on.
PS - glad to see things are back up and running.
