premier ds-3081s/250MB SD card

New to the forum and after some advice!

I bought a small digital camera at Tescos some a couple of years ago (Premier DS-3081S along with a 256MB SD memory card. Up until recently everything's been working fine but now I have a problem and I'm a bit stumped so any help/advice would be much appreciated.

When I last connected the camera to the computer as a disk drive it shows a list of folders but will all the names corrupted (strange symbols). I tried renaming them but no luck.

However, if I view using the camera it shows the latest photos taken OK so they're still there - I just can't get them off the camera!

They're some snaps taken by the kids on holiday so I'd quite like to get them before going down the re-format route so if you can suggest anything I'd be grateful.

I just had the same problem with my six month old Pentax DSLR. Even the Pentax-supplied download program would hang up on some of the files.

I got around it by leaving the SD card in the camera, connecting the camera to the computer's USB port and using Windows Explorer to copy the files from the SD card to my hard drive. Windows Explorer was able to see the SD card in the camera as a folder in an external drive. The camera was able to decipher the files on the card and present them to my PC in a readable format.

After downloading all files from my camera to my computer, I had the camera reformat the SD card.

Thanks for that - no luck at home but when I did it at work the software I use there recognised the photos and downloaded them no problem.

thanks again
