Just a few for me:
Photography-on-the.net is a great site. They have been invaluable in giving advice on Raw processing, printing and monitor calibration. I also found out a lot about Africa and other locations prior to travel via members.
Flickr is my "middleware" location for upload of photos that I plan to export to a new custom web site.
I have posted a little at competing contest sites, but, frankly, this is the only one that gives me feedback beyond "great shot" - and you guys know I am no Ansel Adams.
At any of these, feel free to search for me under (you guessed it) Buddy4344 or buddy eleazer

I use Photo.Net (easy to remember: www.photo.net) and BetterPhoto.com (www.betterphoto.com)... hmmmmm a pattern here? Anyway, both give critiques and feedback, my personal preference being Photo.Net.
For all you Nikon shooters out there, Nikonians is a really good site. It's obviously dedicated to the brand, but there's loads of technical info on equipment and processing. They also have a gallery feature. I know of a few Byte members on both Photo.Net and Nikonians.

I have enjoyed my time on Byte. The Interaction with all the members has been informative as well as a great place to meet nice people.
I would hate to see it "Byte" the dust so to speak.
I do participate on http://www.digitalimagecafe.com and have had some success with my photos as have several others from Byte. The critique section is so large there it is hard to really get involved like at Byte.
I sincerely hope things get sorted o0ut here. I would miss it very much.
BTW there was a great special about Ansel Adams on PBS last week.

Right now, the only other site I'm on is betterphoto, and I'm only marginally there, and only because it can be done for free. I don't think my shots are worth paying for the privilege of having people look at them yet. Then again, maybe I'm green enough that I should be paying people to look at them . . .
I've seen a few other byte members there and they've done well. However, the level of interaction rarely goes beyond "great shot," making the environment here much more desirable.

i have recently started posting to a new-ish uk (wales) based site: http://www.phototopix.co.uk
it is free, friendly and also provides excellent feedback.
the atmosphere is laid back and humorous. interesting and funny threads too.
as i said its a relatively new site, and its growing fast.

Post more stories, post more photos, more , more, more!!
So many people have said" this is without a doubt .. ..
.. ..the best thread on any forum anyplace period
on a very rare occasion, I was attacked and branded as a "liar"
The "coward".. .. that railed these accusations and insults; would or could not point to one specific instance or sentence or paragraph. His presumptions & moronic assumptions spoke much more of his ignorance & lack of any professionalisim. Futher more he lacks any conscience than to admit he was wrong. People like this "sort" are rare, but not rare enough. I just signed up for another forum and on my first post ( I am unable to post images) and when I spoke of my location, the moderators reply was, your living in fantasy land, I think this is a fairy tale. Such instances are very rare indeed. People love to see this type of educational material of a life that is shrouded in mystery!

The main purpose:
Is / was to educate the world as to the plight and needs of the indigenous peoples to eat, hunt & survive in their traditional manner(s) of not only The Arctic in Alaska but ALL the peoples that must cling and claim rights to their lifestyle / culture in lands, that are harsh, unpopulated by todays normal standard(s). No one has the right to tell these people.. "you may not eat"
These traditions of knowledge and culture & lifestyle must be studied and observed so that we may learn from their skills which are "many thousands of years old"
.. not a few hundred years of knowledge & history.
How the ancient Inupiat were able to harvest a 100 foot whale with nothing, using nothing, of what is available today, how did they make that rope? for everyone to pull with? Hundreds of people pulling on 100 tons of food. how did they do that ? 2,600 years ago ?
How did they learn the healing hands Inupiaq way of healing anything wrong with the human body. I was very skeptical of healing hands medicine, until it proved to be far superior than anything we know of to date !
".. .. this lifestyle & culutre must never perish." !
