slow slow slow slow slow toooo slow
Byte is being atrocously slow when i first try to connect.
its taking FOREVER to connect to byte (all i often want is a quick look)
(not the case for other web pages so its not my computer)
sometimes its so slow the connection has "timed out" and i need to go through the laborious process again.
then, once i've connected it is painstakingly long to go in an out of peoples images, critiques section, etc.
PLEASE ADMIN, REMEDY THIS - its driving me POTTY

Pippa, I have not had any problem with it latley at all???
I wonder what the difference is?? But I am using DSL?? Do you think that is the difference?? I know when I was trying to use dial up while I was in NYC for Christmas, it timed out before loading.
I hope this helps and prompts others for feedback.....I know it's frustrating!
Cheers, Joe

Joe - i use a dsl modem connected to my computer via a usb cable (no dial-up involved). just recently my server, AOL, upgraded my speed to now 2Mbps. i can access other sites really quickly, its byte thats the problem - not always but these days its more often than not. if i've been logged on for a while it can move more speedily but very often, until mid-day its problematic. some days better than others, and today has been particulary infuriating. wonder if it could be to do with my location in the world, we're 5hrs ahead of you over here. generally, the evenings are ok.
be good to get to the bottom of it and thanks for responding.
oops forgot to sign off.

I'm using a very fast DSL connection and I'm finding Byte to be very slow during the mornings(EST). For most of the day it uploads just fine

well you're over there Andrew, so it cant be location. its happening to some and not others - could it be time of day, or maybe too many people using server, or web at one time, possibly.... but then why can i reach other sites in an intstant?
does admin have any answers??

I agree that the 7 am to 9 am EST viewing is tediously slow.

RESURRECTING THIS AGAIN
it seemed to improve for a short while but i'm now back to the 'timed out' again. taking forever to connect again. perhaps i should'nt bother trying to connect till the afternoon.....
i just wonder what the problem is.
perhaps admin could enlighten us.

My guess is that they do a system backup/maintenance in the morning. --Rick

me too Joe - right up till late afternoon today. also, i am getting another issue. often says 'memory low at line 56', seems below line 56 there is no info till i click ok. again, only happens with byte, all other sites load fine and much more quickly.
