Editors Corner
Want to exercise your editing skills? Are you intrigued by what others may do with a photo? Do you like seeing what your fellow photographers would do with your image? If you answered yes to any of those questions I think you might be interested in something new we're trying in the Critique section. The premise is that one person will upload one of their shots that is unedited. Others will then make their edits and upload them. The original submitter will then choose a favorite and that lucky person will then get to pick the next shot to be edited. What I hope is that this will not only be fun but also informative. Sharing why you made the edits you made and how you made them should help us all broaden our horizons as well as our repetoire of editing skills.
If you think any of this sounds like fun please visit the here, http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/...ery.php?cat=597 and take a look at the original shot, http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/...=597&page=1 and work your magic and then upload that product.
I'm the beginning guinea pig and I'll choose my favorite edit from those submitted and that lucky editor will then upload a new one for us to play with.
Happy editing to you all.
Darren

thanks Darren - that was truly wonderful - its a great idea to get up and running, got me buzzing - went to turn off the puter last night before bed after a friend had just left at 1:30 am - saw this little excercise and that was it, couldn't keep my hands off and worked at it till i got it posted. Sheila did the same thing a while back which was so exciting, do you remember, a reflective beach leading up to a strange structure in the sea. so well done you, - i thoroughly enjoyed myself, and cant wait for the next one.
thank you Darren.

I just wanted to thank all of you that have participated so far. You've exceeded my expectations significantly and you've made my selection a difficult one. I'm also enthused that you all have expressed that this has been enjoyable for you. I'm hopeful that this will continue to be fun as well as informative. I will say that reading the PP tricks that you all use delineates how rudimentary my own PP skills truly are. Thanks again to all of you for your interest and your talents.

Darren,
Just wanted to say great job on the coming up with this idea. The critique section is the perfect area also. Hopefully we will get many to participate. Fun idea. Let's keep it going.

Hi,
Do you all wish a separate edited photos category under the Photo Critiques section and allowing more than two posts per day in this category.

Stephen,
I'd be for a separate gallery as that would help keep the critique section from being crowded with edits and those that want critiques won't have to plow through so many similar shots. Sounds like a good idea to me.

i'm up for that too Stephen - as Darren points out, critique section could get bogged down with our edits of the same shot, at the expense of one offs posted for critique.

Ok, last chance to submit an edit. I'll give you the rest of the evening to submit an edit. I'll be posting on my favorite tomorrow. Thanks to everyone that has participated.

Next Up?
Hey all,
I spent time last night looking at all the edits and there were things I liked about all of your efforts. In the end though only one can be a favorite and I think Kevin's Edit was just so novel that even though several others gave me great pause I just kept returning to his dreamy fairy tale like image. SO it's your turn Kevin and I'm looking forward to seeing what you offer up for us.
Darren
Oh and an edit to add that I'll be removing my original shot and submission in an effort to reduce the clutter in the critique section. This may not be as necessary if Admin creates a new subgallery but until then I'm gonna delete after the mini-contest.

Thanks Darren for the honors this week. I thought taking a different tact might be an interesting twist on your original.
I will get something up today for this week's edit challenge.
Cheers,
kevin
