I'm New, Say Hi, Be Cool.
Hey Everyone! I am new to this forum but I hope to interact with some of the gifted artists that post work on here.
I am an obsessed hobbiest who has been making money at this craft for about 3 years...just not enough to quit the ole 9-5.
I'll make a couple hundred bucks here and there just to support my habit of buying electronics and software, mostly friends, family, coworkers.
I love medium format film and lug my RB67 out at least once a week.
Other than that its digital bliss 24/7.
Drop a line and introduce yourself to me if anyone is ever in this section of the forum.
Later!

Welcome Matt!
Welcome to Bytephoto Matt (is that the name you would prefer?). I think your description of obsessed hobbiest quite aptly describes a fair number of the regulars that post here. I'm sure I'm not the only one that is looking forward to your contributions, both artistically and critically. At present you'll get more comments if you enter the weekly contest but some of us are trying to enliven the critique section but they're not exclusive so feel free to submit and critique to both galleries. And again a warm welcome to what I believe is an informative and friendly place to share one's passion while simultaneously honing one's skills.
Darren

Welcome Matt!!
Darren described the site very well. The only thing I will add is that the more you give to the site, the more you will get out of it!
There is a ton of friendly talent here!
Cheers,
Joe

Matt,
Welcome to the fold. Like Darren said, this is a great place to share both photos and opinions. Don't be afraid to voice you comments in the contest section as well as the critique section. We are here to learn and encourage. It sounds like you have some good photo chops to begin with. Can't wait to see your work.

Thanks,
Thanks for the warm welcome...
So, to enter the weekly where do I submit 2 photos?
Should I just start building a gallery, or should I save them for discussions?

WElcom to Byte. I started by creating a gallery then started entering the contest. Actually, I don't think this is the best way. One cannot move gallery shots into the contest without deleting and reloading, so ... this ties up some good shots.... but it does give folks a chance to learn your style.
Another way, which I would suggest if I were you, is to simply start by uploading 2 shots and entering them into the contest. After a week they will automatically move into your gallery. In a few weeks the gallery will grow, meanwhile this has you entering two good shots each week.
Regardless, have fun. If you want strong feedback, ask for it, but don't take offense to any comment as everyone is trying to be constructive.
Good luck and once again, welcome.

Matt,
Welcome to the site. It's nice to see someone else shooting film on occasion. I break out the old Minolta when I have cause, but my only foray into medium format is my Holga. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with it!
