Great shot Bud. That scope does a great job. I think it would drive me nuts wanting to go higher power. When my kids were small, we had an Edmund's Scientific reflector telescope. It really gave us some perspective of our size relative to the universe. It also let us really experience the rotation effect that the earth had, when we tried to focus and track a celestial body. Good luck with Mars.

Bud, the detail is amazing. Please tell us a little about how you did it.

Tim, thanks for your kind words.

The doing is really very simple.......I have a Celestron 8" scope and hooked to it is my Nikon 5700. (special lens from scopetronix). The celestron has motor drives that are able to accurately track the moon so taking the shot is pretty straightforward.
I've been trying for some good skies and getting some good shots of mars before it leaves us.....but it's either to much moisture....fires in the hills...clouds...something keeps us from getting good skies. The nice little "twinkle" that we see is the same thing that keeps from getting a truly good shot.

thanks again for looking and commenting

Great detail in this one.
I was interested in digiscoping until I found out that my Olympus E10 was not suitable for this types of shots.

Great moon shot, --after seeing this with your Celstron, makes me think I made a right choice for scope, I have just bought a new Canon S2 IS camera, called scopetronix.com and talked to them about digiscoping, and liked the Celestron and they have an attachment to fit my camera, I am considering this myself, want to get something to take long distance shots of birds and hawks, also.

Thanks for the nice words.
Here is an example with my C8"sct and a Nikon 4500....this is only with the 4500

And here is about half magnification betweeen camera and scope:

and this is still not a full magnification.....there was a full wind blowing and I had to wait for the tree to swing into focus.

As to your camera....get the scopetronix setup...they supply really nice stuff...it's what I use.

thanks for looking,

bud
