Invitation
Hi All,
I've been absent for quite some time now, getting ready for my first solo gallery show. If any of you are in the SLC area of Utah, the show is being held at The Kimball Art Center in the Badami Gallery from Sept. 21st through Nov. 25th. The Kimball is in Park City.
The artists reception will be on Sept 28th, starting at 6 pm, with wine, cheese, etc.... and I will be there. I'd love to meet anyone that happens to be in the area......
I'm hanging 30 photos, I did all my own printing (that took forever) at 12x18, matted and framed to 18 x 24. Needless to say, I'm terribly excited, and will take photos!
Happy Trails, and Happy Shooting to all!
Carolyn

Carolyn,
I will be headed west. It may be worth going to SLC just to see your stuff. Good luck.

Thanks Buddy, we hung my show yesterday, and the curator asked if I would miind extending it until January 10th, as she wasn't happy with the show that was to follow mine..... Uh.... yes I said! So it will run from Sept. 21st through Jan. 10. Hope you can make it to Park City!
Kevin, I can't wait to meet you on the 28th! Park City News TV is interviewing me today, and I am NERVOUS to say the least. See you there. I'm stoked!

Hi Kevin, yes, it will be on Park City News. They filmed today at the gallery, and will edit it down to a short clip that they can show several times during the exhibit. I don't know when, but I may find out.... also it will be available on line parkcity.tv then you click on watch..... on the days they air it, it will be there. They did say it would be several days before it airs... maybe before the "opening" on the 28th. Sorry I don't have more specific dates.... The interview went well today after the first couple of minutes..... I was nervous! This is all so exciting.

Carolyn, this exciting and I know that your show will be a great example of the depth of digital photography.
You're making a real contribution to digital photography, taking it far, far beyond the popular and mistaken conception that it's all about manipulating images to make them look like "paintings".
I'm proud of you. I wish I could be there.
Sheila

I'm sorry I can't see it...I'm sure it's a wonderful display of your very professional work.
I'm not sure what the correct 'good luck' wish is to a photographer...'break a lens?'
Anyway, good luck and have a great show,
Frank

Sheila, Thanks! It is a bit of a battle to get folks to understand that my photography, although it is a digital workflow, is "straight" photography. Especially when they look at my Balanced Rock or other night shots.... Digital Art is a wonderful blossoming field, but for my work, I limit myself to only what can be done in a wet darkroom.
I sincerely wish you could be here tonight too! I'm so excited to be meeting Kevin!!!!
Frank.... LOL... break a lens is good.... However when I trained TB race horses (for 30 years) or was about to go into the arena riding stadium jumpers... the typical good luck break a .... was not what I wanted to hear! Thanks for you compliments...
Ruth, thank you. So nice to hear from you all....
Well tonight's the night. I'll take some photos and post if possible. I'm pretty excited. This really is my big night. What to wear... how to fix my hair... you know, all the girl stuff. Since I'm really a mountaineer at heart, I don't get much practice at these things.....
Thanks again for all your support and help through the past few years getting me to this point!

Well, the opening was greater than my wildest dreams. I just can't describe the feeling, standing in an art gallery, looking around at 30 of my photographs, and all those people looking at them.
I've got to say, one of the highlights of the evening was to meet Kevin. I just wish I'd had more time to spend with him. It was all so overwhelming.
Thanks so much Kevin for coming up!
And thanks again for all of you at Bytephoto that have helped me through the years.
Carolyn

Having the chance to meet Carolyn was just great! The show was wonderfully laid out and the gallery did a super job displaying her work. There were many photos that were familiar as well as some that were new, at least to me.
I had a chance to talk with her husband and could see how proud he was of her. Everyone was beaming. The gallery was teaming with lots of people, all of whom were enjoying the display.
Good luck to you Carolyn.
Thanks for including my family and me in your event.
Kevin
