Photo's look too light on Bytephoto site
Something odd I only noticed recently. My shots have much darker tones on my monitor when I view the original versions. When I view my photo after it's been uploaded on the Bytephoto site it looks a lot lighter then I wanted. This is with all my photo's once I view them on the Bytephoto site. And I mean a substantial difference. It's like Bytephoto adds more brightening to the photo. Do any of you find this as well with your shots?

Fred,
make sure you convert to sRGB mode before upload. Not sure this was the issue, but I was making that mistake for a while.

Do you regularly (every couple of weeks) calibrate your monitor? If not, that could be the culprit. Especially if your monitor is over 6 months old, we don't notice the change over time, but when you print, or post, you sure do!

I have a brand new Samsung Syncmaster 206 BW 22" widescreen monitor that is 2 weeks old. And the latest Mac Mini 1.83 Ghz Core 2 Duo desktop. What happens is that when I view the photo from my Iphoto album or my desktop after I have processed it, it looks fine..just the way I intended but as soon as I upload to Bytephoto and then view it on the Bytephoto site it has become very much lighter. So it's something here on the Bytephoto site..something in the uploading or processing that makes it go lighter.
Ps. I have now switched my screen colour profile to Adobe RGB(1998) and now the colour and tone is fine.
Thanks Shootem.
