EF 75-300mm Zoom Lenses
Can someone tell me the differences and advantages between the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens and the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens. Other than the price, of course. Has anyone had experience with these lenses, especially with the EOS Rebel XTi?

Ultrasonic vs. DC motor
What is the practical difference between the ultrasonic motor and the DC motor? Is there a speed differrence?

The ultra sonic is a bit faster but also smoother as well they claim the zoom is smoother on the usm model both lenses have 13 elements in 9 groups

Thanks Travis, since I'm somewhat of a techie perfectionist I'll go the extra bucks for the USM model. I was considering the IS version, but for the price difference I can buy a lot of monopods.

But the IS model is undeniably worth the bucks as i have found out of course that depends on what you are intersested in shooting if you shoot alot of sports or wildlife its worth the extra $$ but if you are always going to have a pod and shooting landscapes flowers and such the non IS model well do fine
