zoom facility digital ixus 800is

i used to have a nikon coolpix3100 which i could zoom in on saved pictures and click the shutter and it would save the picture i now have a canon ixus 800is but cannot find a way of doing this i can find nothing in the manual either am i to assume that the canon cannot perform this task.
any advice on this would be great

when you say zoom in on and save, are you asking that when you view the on your computer screen or view on the lcd screen on the back of the camera itself?

I used to have a powershot canon myself and was always able to trim shots in camera but it appears that they have removed this feature in your model and replaced it with custom color
