Budget 3x telephoto lens?
I'm hoping some of you experts who've been at photography a lot longer than me can help me out on this one. I've been looking for a telephoto lens, preferably 3x, to go with my DSC-H2. Ebay has some 3x lenses relatively cheap, but I've heard people state that those Ebay lenses are garbage best used as a paperweight. What I haven't found is what *would* be recommended for a budget-limited consumer.
I don't mind a little vignetting; I can always crop and, if necessary, take multiple shots and stitch. I don't even mind a hint of added blur. Used would not only be an option, but I'd actually even prefer it (so long as the seller guarantees no scratches). I just don't want to get something that's so bad that I'd be doing little worse by just blowing up a photo taken without telephoto (I heard one person say that their Ebay "Tokina" lens was that bad).
I've also seen telephoto lenses designed for other cameras. I have no experience with using of telephoto lenses, so I'm fuzzy on the details; is there a way to make, say, a "Kodak Cine Telephoto lens" which I found work with my DSC? Or is it best just to get one designed for my camera? Is all that matters whether the telephoto lens fits my camera's 58mm threading, or is there more to it than that?
In short, what would you all recommend to a budget-limited photographer in the market for a telephoto lens (preferably 3x, although if nothing is affordable, 2x) for a DSC-H2?
