Evolt 500 manual mode

Does anyone else find that in manual mode, it is slow to take the picture. For instance, i can take a picture of something on automatic and check the settings. If i put the same f-stop and shutter speed on manual, and press the button, it takes like 1-2 seconds before actually snapping. While i did a photography class recently, it made it difficult to freeze action b/c the action had passed. Is there a reason for this or a way to correct it? Thanks

It should actually be much faster. Here's what to look for....

1: Focus. Autofocus needs light to work. Change to manual focus and see if this speeds up.

2: Settings are not all sticky. Settings you make in manual are isolated from other (P,A,S,AUTO) and vice versa. Check for the ANTI-SHOCK (CAMERA-2 Menu, last item). This may explain the delay, if it is set.

I think it is a setting issue. It sounds like you have a delay set into one of your menus while in the manual mode(don't have my camera with me but it is the same menu where you would use the remote). Like the above poster said, it will default to your previous settings when you were last in manual. The speed of the shutter should be no different in manual than in any other mode.
