FinePix E550 - Wavy blurry watermark/pattern problem

Hello everyone. New member and first time poster here.

I have this Fuji FinePix E550 camera, it's a really nice digital camera and very easy to use. Anyway, ever since my brother took it oversea for a trip, all the pictures that have been taken by this camera have wavy and blurry watermarks/patterns, it's really hard to explain, that's why I have two example pictures to show you guys.

As you can see from the pictures, especially when you zoom in, you can see the strange patterns, which totally ruin the pictures.

Anyone can tell what might have caused the problem? Perhaps damage to particular parts?
