Tamron Photo Contest

Tamron Announces "An Emotional Appeal" Photo Contest 2007 Designed For The Scrapbook Enthusiast

Professional Photographer and Judge Andre Costantini Gives His Top Ten Photo Tips for Better People Pictures to Enthusiasts of All Levels Who Log Onto www.tamron.com/lenses/scrapbook.asp

May 21, 2007, Commack, NY - Tamron USA, Inc. announced the 2007 photo contest for scrapbookers called "An Emotional Appeal." This marks the second year that Tamron is conducting a photo contest aimed at the scrapbook enthusiast. "We received more than 1,300 images last year in response to our contest announcement," stated Stacie Errera, Chief Marketing Officer for Tamron. "Andre Costantini, a professional freelance photographer living in New York City, our contest judge, had to work incredibly hard to choose a winner and just 20 favorites from the gamut of emotional images that ran from tears of joy and frustration, to grins of all sorts and much more. This was one of the most fun contests that Tamron has run and we absolutely wanted to do it again."

The leading photo lens company is looking for images from scrapbook enthusiasts that best articulate the broad-based theme of human emotion and emotional interaction -happy, sad, tired, mad, or any other human emotion. The contest winner will receive the new Tamron AF18-250mm lens, the world's largest range zoom designed for today's popular digital SLR cameras (a $500 street value). In addition, the winner and 20 favorites will be featured in Tamron's online gallery (see last year's contest results at http://www.tamron.com/galleries/Pho...4&cat=16&item=0 .

A bonus for scrapbookers who download the contest entry form is advice from professional photographer Andre Costantini, who has run workshops designed for scrapbookers at scrapbook stores and regularly lectures on portrait photography around the country. Costantini provides his Top 10 Photo Tips that are sure to help photographers of any level make better pictures of people.

"Scrapbooking has become such a sophisticated hobby these days," says Errera. "And I firmly believe that one of the best ways to elevate the level of page layouts is to increase the quality of the photos being scrapped. The scrapbooker who takes time to know how to use her lens and camera functions and who plays with angles, composition and lighting ultimately has more choices of great photos when she sits down to scrapbook. Tamron's goal is to help scrapbookers understand the basics in order to get more creative in their picture-taking."

The Tamron "An Emotional Appeal" Photo Contest 2007 deadline is 11/30/07. The contest rules, entry form and Andre Costantini's Top Ten Photo Tips can be downloaded by logging onto http://www.tamron.com/lenses/scrapbook.asp .

Tamron is a leading manufacturer of lenses for photographic, industrial, laboratory, video, digital and scientific applications. Among its many optical and mechanical innovations since the start of the company in 1950, Tamron's development of mass produced hybrid aspherical elements in 1997 paved the way for high ratio zoom lenses. The technology was incorporated into the ground-breaking 28-200mm and continues with the new 18-250mm developed exclusively for use on digital SLR cameras featuring an unprecedented 13.9X zoom range. Tamron has won more awards for its high ratio zoom lenses than all other lens manufacturers combined.
