Need Help! Heading to NYC tomorrow
We are heading to NYC tomorrow, we are there 5 or 6 times a year, but this time I have talked the wife into giving me a day to go into the city and photograph it....pointers, points of interest and tips would be appreciated.
Kevin has already been a great help with some tips, any more tips would be appreciated.
I think we have chose Friday to go into manhatten and photograph
Thanks Joe

Joe, when I go into a new city I try to capture colours, textures and different perspectives of what I'm seeing around me. I might look at parts of architecture, or position a familiar landmark in an archway that I come across. And, if you feel safe, go out at night and take some night pictures of bright lights. I also like signs. Las Vegas gave me a few 'holy cows' in that respect - just stuff you don't expect to see on signage. Look up, look down and look all around. And the part that I'm still not great at is look at people and what they're doing - lots of feet walking across a crosswalk or train bridge. I don't know NYC, but I'm sure it will be lots of fun photographically.
Have a great trip.
I just returned from two weeks in Mexico. Although this is a family album, it will give you an idea of some of the sites I saw. (And it's pared down - I did take about 1000!) The only ones I didn't take are the ones of the large pyramid - Coba. My 10 year old took my Nikon D50 and took the shots there. http://www.photoswithfinesse.com/Im...exico/index.htm Maybe it will give you some ideas.

Say, 'no!' if someone offers to take your picture with your camera.
The Brooklyn Bridge has great lines and textures and you can walk across.
The South Street Sea Port has some nice sailing ships.
The Intrepid Aircraft Carrier is gone for a while.

Thank you famjad....I didn't see that you responded...I had a great time....It was tough to find shots that didn't seem "ordinary" But, as the weeks go by, I will be posting a few of them and I will let you decide how I did.
Thanks, Joe
