High in the Arctic !! Eskimo....!
From the top of the world (look at a globe) Point Hope Alaska 99766.
Point Hope is the OLDEST, CONTINUALLY INHABITED SETTLEMENT OR VILLAGE IN ALL OF NORTH AMERICA! Life can accurately be traced back to over 3,000 years, to this very spot of land where we live. An Inupiaq Eskimo whaling community of only 750 people who are currently at this moment living 5 miles out.. on the frozen ice pack ON, the Chukchi Sea in the Bering Straight of Alaska.
We hunt the mighty bowhead whale. This is home for two months or longer, depending on the ice conditions.
I guess I cannot post images until I have 15 posts !

Welcome to Byte!
I believe you can post images right away but you can't vote for the POTW until you have 15 posts.
I can't wait to see images from your area.

Thank you Frank .. .. ..
so please tell me how to post. I had a nice story / article all set up and with img tags and it won't let me post the links
I have never seen this type format in a forum for posting images so I am truely lost. I have managed to upload an image in my gallery and many more are coming shortly.
Based on typical responses from many other forums concerning these images
you are not going to believe what you are about to see, witness, view, experience and read! @ 40 - 60 below zero!
i have no idea.. how to create a proper link

There is an 'Upload Photo' button that guides you through the process. Tell it to place your image in your gallery.
Just keep the largest dimension to 800 pixels or less so the site doesn't resize your shot.

What is in a NAME ??? ROFLMAO
WELL i HAVE TO ADMIT.. then when I joined this photo forum I made a mistake. 'Majik Imaje" is the name.. .. ... ..
of my sons.. Initials !
MarkAndrew, Jesse, Isaiah, Khristopher = MAJIK
Isaiah, MarkAndrew, Jesse, Eves = IMAJE
I played with their initials for over 9 months trying to find a combination that would work.
Mark is the only son (4) of mine that has a middle initial.
so if you put this together, you can see, a logo I made in a 3d program 3D studio Max

ROFLMAO ?? is that your name or your family name??
i love the idea of working initials into a name and magical imagery seems powerfully perfect.
My daughter now 18 yrs old is called Liffey (after the irish river which from my understanding is the only female river in europe - all the rest are male, old father thames for instance). I have never been to this river but feel i have an affinity/romance with it. James Joyce wrote poetically of it.
Liffey, my daughter, did not have a name for six months because all the names i tried did not seem to fit her. I had preplanned to call her alice but when she came into the world she was not an alice. so there you go!
computer says no to your link but i will keep trying it.

beautiful....... i love it.
willl go back to your site and explore. just thought i'd let you know i found it - that little person hopping about came to this bytesite after i'd reduced your site to the task bar....truth is stranger than fiction...
im off back to your site to find out about your part of the world.
i watched a docu only recently about the first white explorer (scandinavian i think) who made his way through the baring straight and the only reason he survived (while his ship became encased in ice) was to go native.... he got rid of all his clothing, exchanged them for skins, acquired dogs and learned to hunt. He copied the way your people live and he survived.... you probably know more about it than me.
