Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my problem. I recently bought a Sony a100-k camera and of course it didn't come with a memory stick. So I went online and bought a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo (high speed) 4GB. For some reason when I insert the memory stick and take a picture, the camera says there is an error with the memory stick. When I initally put the memory stick in, the camera reads the card and shows me how may photos will fit on the card as the camera is set up. I don't understand how a Sony memory stick isn't working in a Sony camera... Help please!

Ok, now I'm really frustrated. The memory stick works when I put in my computer and load things on it such as pictures from my pictures, music, data.... Why isn't it working in the camera? Can anyone help me? Thank you!
