Night Time Traffic Shots
I live near the mass pike and want to get some traffi shots a night where the headlight blend together.
If I take pics at night it seems without flash things just come out black. Is there anything I do to get that cool night shot?
If it helps i have a Kodak Z740

I looked at the spec for your camera on DP Review and there are two settings that might help.
1) Your camera has a 'night' setting shooting mode. I'm assuming that it bumps up your ISO, and extends the shutterspeed to a longer exposure. You might want to try it.
2) Use the shooting mode of 'shutter' and set the speed to the longest exposure it can go. If you can get into the seconds great, but it looks like 1/8 of a second is the max. (Ideally, on a night shot you're looking for at least a 4 second exposure - that gives you four seconds of headlights to zoom by and blend into a line.) If that's the case, try finding the setting to bump your ISO up to 800. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor and therefore the possibility to take pictures in low-light situations. (But don't forget to set it back to 100 or 200 for all your 'normal images, otherwise you could end up with some real graininess in your shots.)
Hope that helps. Good luck with your night shooting.

Thanks you but there is one problem. My ISO only goes up to 400.
By the way if you look at my gallery I have some fireworks shots that were taken in fireworks mode. Will that mode work for this situation?

On that fireworks image it's showing your exposure time as 2 seconds which would be good for a night shot. It's showing the ISO as 80 - not ideal. However, the review I saw said your camera goes up to ISO 800 as long as your image resolution is set to the maximum highest level. Anyway, ISO 400 would help - especially if you can find that 2 second exposure time. Check your owners manual. It should be in there somewhere.
