This is happening because the shutter is moving so fast, it doesn't allow enough light in. To change this you need to go into Manual mode, if you camera has it. You can set the shutter speed really fast, and then change the aperture really "low" which will actually let more light in. It is probably labeled f/stops.
So....
~Manual Mode
~High Shutter Speed
~Lowest aperture (f/stops)
You will probably need to experiment with the settings, to get a perfect combination.
