Actually I think you can use any other mode and have control over the flash. Aperture priority (A) or Shutter priority (S) will also let you control the flash. Try using (A) and use the little control wheel on the front of the camera below the shutter button to dial the aperture to 2.8 and see how that works. Then you can experiment with flash levels.

Thanks a lot for the help. I think I have learned something even if I have to manually shoot pics when using a flash. I need run somewhere now, but I will report to this thread later and advise if have improved my photography.
