Film to Digital?
Question. This site is considered a "Digital Photography" site.... is that correct?
If one shoots with film, then has the film scanned to digital, is this considered now digital?
The reason I ask is twofold.
1) I've seen digital scans of film entered here.
2) I've just purchased an old manual focus Nikon F3HP for long (as in hours long) night photography....
My first thought is no, this is not digital. However, since others have submitted film scans, I thought I'd put this out to admin, to find the difinitive answer.......

Hi Carolyn. I did read somewhere in the rules that scans were fine. I was just telling my partner last night that film cameras were like Beta video's, no-one uses them anymore. Guess I was wrong.
Cheers.........HB

Copied from the rules:
'Photos can either be from a digital camera or scanned prints, slides or negatives. Photos don't necessarily need to be shot during the contest dates, they can be from the past or present.'

Wow guys, thanks! I guess I should have "read the rules".... especially since I'm "miss go by the rules" person!!
Cool, so... now I just have to learn how to shoot film!!!! ARGHHHHH most people come at it from the other angle.... film to digital!
I can get 5 minutes no problem. 20 minutes sometimes. Afraid to try any longer. Noise just is too much of an issue.... Canon has it dialed better for the noise thing, but I want to be able to set my timer for 5 hours, climb in my tent, and go to sleep, not worrying about the battery or the noise.
Lovin Life,
Carolyn
