XTi - Black vs Silver
I have been shopping for the Rebel XTI for several weeks now. Why is the black body always more expensive than the silver? What online retailers can I trust?

I would suggest B&H Photo, newegg.com, or adorama.com. I have never tried B&H but they are photo professionals that have the experiance needed for quality product support, and everyone recomends them. My favorite place to shop in general is newegg.com they are cheap and extremely fast getting your stuff to your door. Adorama.com is also very good. Compare shop @ pricegrabber.com then make shure you check the merchants ratings at resellerratings.com. Theres lots of very cheap deals out there STAY AWAY if it sounds to good to be true and make sure you check reselleratings.com if theres any doubt. Im getting ready to buy the xti also and canoga camera had the black (body only) for $710.00 but they are currentlky out of stock, im still trying to decide weather to pay a little more for black body or get the silver body now...

Adorama was GREAT earlier this month when I bought my "L" lens!
They had a refurbished one for about $200.00 less (and outside of N.Y. & N.J. - no tax!) I still do not see what the difference would be between this and new!
... a lot of people are very fond of B&H - I never got anything from them yet!

Black is beautiful ;-)) Pure marketing + the fact that most people prefer black. 100% identical camera.
Only tried B&H. 100% happy.

Just a note that in Australia there is no difference in price. And most shops seem to stock the black here.

Well folks, I finally made the plunge into digital. After alot of reading and searching I finally decided to go with the XTi.
I had alot of 4 x 5 & 8 x 10 large format equipment (150 lbs worth) that I sent into Adorama (Jack's great) for trade and also included my complete 35 mm system.
This was enough to buy a XTi w/18-55 mm zoom lens, Speedlite 430EX, Hoodman Flip Up Sun Hood for the LCD Screen, BG-E3 Battery Grip, extra NB-2LH Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery, SanDisk 4 GB, 60x Speed Ultra II Compact Flash Memory Card, and a Tamron 55 - 200mm f/4.0-5.6 DI-II LD Macro Ultra Compact Auto Focus Telephoto Zoom Lens.
Really looking forward to getting my hands on this and get back to shooting, Life is good!

Congratulations! It looks like you're well equiped for shooting digitally a wide range of genres.
As a fellow user of the xTi (aka 400D) I am sure you will enjoy using the camera.
I look forward to your creative images.

My preference was for black it is less obtrusive and there is less light reflected from the body of the camera, which maybe distracting to wildlife!! But its your personal choice in the end the quality of your shots wont change and black is cool!!
Choose well, Keith
