I had this same problem with the Nikon S4. I sent it in to Nikon and they fixed it (they said they replaced the shutter mechanism and cleaned the innards). Now two weeks after I got it back it is broken again. Needless to say, I am annoyed and writing a letter to Nikon execs.

Same dead screen problem

Hello all,

Seems like Nikon has designed a real dog in the coolpix S4. What were the R and D guys thinking when they put this piece of garbage on the market? Maybe they weren't thinking.

The design of the shutter is obviously faulty and as the one fellow experienced , even when the problem had been supposedly been repaired by Nikon itself the very same problem re-occured only two weeks later!

This camera has BAD DESIGN written all over it. Shame on Nikon for releasing such a second rate product!

Allan

Hi,

I got the same problem too with my Nikon Coolpix L3 and its very annoying! And Nikon don't have a repair center here in the Philippines!

Its a real headache for me because it haven't reach a year from me yet (since it was bought last August 2006).

And besides, it is a gift to me by my aunt, that's why I'm in panic. I have taken great care not to drop it or even bump! but here it is! She might think that I'm careless enough to handle this!
