zoom lens...
Hi there.. i got a canon 30d yesterday with an 18-55mm kit. im looking for a zoom lens right now for under $500.. any suggestions? I AM A BEGINNER and i really don't know anything about lenses.. thanks

I use a Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens and I love it. I use it as my everyday lens. With the current rebate program, you can get a brand new one from B&H for around $400.

What are you doing with the lens? This info will help determine which focal lenght range would be best.

Thanks for the reply. The lens will pretty much be an everyday lens. i have already purchased a 17-85 IS USM lens. I hope i made the right decision..

Canon makes a pretty decent 70-300mm USM lens for about $300. Would make an ok walk around lens. I started out with a very similar lens before upgrading into the L series.
