How do I do this

I saw a post card at a state fair advertising a photographer. I really liked the look of the photos (almost painterly). They look like a lot of photoshop work. I would like to try to reproduce this look. I have attaced some samples below. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi kman, welcome to Byte.

It looks like a watercolour filter has been applied to the photo. This can be done as a post-processing effect in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and other editing software. Here's a tutorial... http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tut...lor-effect.html

I thought I had another one but can't find it right now.

I could be wrong, but this also looks like its a scan of a photo that has a texture to it like some do when you cont ask for glossy?

how do I do this?

You are correct the post card I picked up is a glossy card and when I scanned it it made the texture lines. I am not trying to reporduce the texture but the painterly look of the faces. Thanks

Question

I looked at the two photos and I just don't see the "painterly" look that you're referring to. They seem, on my monitor, to be pretty basic portrait photos.
