My friend has had a Sony Cybershot DSC-W70 for less than a month and now it's not working properly. Whenever you turn it on it says "Access" and the lens comes in and out, then it says "Please turn camera off and then on again" but when I do that the same thing happens.

The only thing I can get it to do is when I press the review button I can look through the pictures on the memory card. I've tried recharging the battery, taking it out and putting it back in, but nothing with work.

If anyone knows how to fix this it would be greaty appreciated.

same thing - DSC-W30

The exact same thing just happened to my W30. I just got it for Christmas and about the 3rd time I used it, it suddenly said "turn power off and on again". It also seems that the lens is stuck open. It tries to move but doesn't. I had been taking pictures with it only seconds before. The Sony website said to take out the battery for 30 seconds and then try powering it up again, and if that didn't work to charge the battery. I tried both and nothing has worked. After talking to a Sony rep yesterday, he told me to do what I had already done. Then when that didn't work, after I told him it wouldn't, he said that there must be something wrong and that he'd send me the link for the repair/cost quote page. There is no way I am PAYING for repairs on a brand new camera. It is going back to the store.
