I've been wanting to get myself a Digital Rebel for about the last 2 years and I'm finally able to put the money towards it now. Before I make a purchase like this I would like to get as much info as I can first.

I was looking at some package deals, ones that come with other lenses etc. and since I'm used to the regular little digi's I don't know the differences between the brands. The 3 I saw are Canon, Sigma and Tamron. Can someone tell me what the difference is between them? Is one really better than the other or are they basically the same in the end?

As for the zoom on the lenses, the bigger the number the further it will zoom in right?

Another thing is some say f2.8-4 and others say f3.5-5.6 for example, what does this mean?

Last question I can think of right now is what size flash card should I get? Should I go all out and get a 3 or 4 GB? Or is 1-2GB enough? I think I have a 256MB for my little digi but I don't doubt for large high quality pictures on the Rebel the file sizes can get quite big.
