Wide angle lens for Rebel XTi?
I've been looking around for a decent wide angle lens for my new camera before I buy it. I came across the sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 and imo, it looks fairly decent. Some posts elsewhere have given me doubts. I have read about a problem with back-focusing. What is this, and how do I find if I'm getting the problem. I've already decided on the canon 70-200mm f/4L as my telephoto lens. Any suggestions for a decent, reasonably priced wide-angle lens?

If 17mm is wide enough for you on a XTI, check out the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. If you don't like an EF-S lens, look at the EF 17-40mm F4L.
If you want to go wider, you have to look at the following lenses. They all work only on crop bodies and will not work on full-frame:
EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Sigma 10 - 20 mm f/4 - 5.6
Tamron 11 - 18 mm f/4.5 - 5.6
Tokina 12 - 24 mm f/4,
The Canon gets very good reviews, but is quite expensive.

Thorsten

How is the barrel distortion on the EF-S 10-22?
I tried out the Sigma 10-20, and the distortion was quite significant all the way up to about maybe 18mm.
