No Sound!! SD630

I just got the canon SD630 and I was impressed by the video. The sound worked. Now the sound doesn't work when I record videos. No idea why. I did drop the camera on my foot on carpet but if that was the reason then the camera is way too fragile. But I think the sound still worked after that. I do hear a slight audble static or what you call it - just the sound of the mic as if nothing was being recorded. Any ideas? Have I really broken my camera two days after getting it!? Very distressed as I am about to leave to India and don't have time to send it back to www.newegg.com (GREAT shopping site btw, got a free 1gb card with the camera for $309)

Any insight or ideas on this issue greatly appreciated!
