Problems with SD card and Nikon Coolpix S1
Hi guys,
I ran into a problem with a SD card and was hoping that someone could help.
While on holiday I ran out of space on the SD card I use in my camera and used the Dane Elec 256 SD card I had in my Pocket PC instead. I deleted all files via file explorer in the pocket pc and stuck it in the camera, a Nikon Coolpix S1.
I took pictures as normal with the camera and everything worked just fine.
I can see the pictures in there and can take new pictures now.
The problem comes when trying to access the pictures in the SD card through my PC. I first tried sticking the SD card into the multimedia reader on the front of the PC as I always do.
I can see the card in there but instead of seeing the usual folder named “Nikon 100” that contains the images all I see is this:
img259.imageshack.us/img259/961/sdcardet3.gif
Clicking on any of the folders displayed generates the error to pop up as seen in the screenshot. The error says something like “can not access (folder name). The name of the file, directory or volume label is not valid”
I tried this in 3 computers and always got the same result!
I then proceeded to dock the camera and tried to transfer the pictures using the USB cable into Nikon´s Picture Project software. The software will not recognize the camera with the “problem” SD card in it!
I then stuck the SD card back in the camera and could visualize all pictures. I marked all images with “transfer” following the instructions manual. After 10 minutes the camera comes up with the message “transmission error”
Could someone please advice how to resolve this issue? I am desperate since the pictures in the SD card are the very best pictures of my holiday!
