Question lens compatibility

Hello there! Could you please enlighten me with this simple predicament.

I understand that since the dawn of DSLRs, camera and lens manufacturers designed a specific digital lens exclusively for digital bodies. That's because the sensor of digital cameras are a bit smaller than the film plane. I also learned that digital bodies have a narrow field of view (by 1.5x). I own a Nikon F80 and D70 but all my lenses are non-DX. One time using my 50mm lens on both F80 and D70, I noticed that there was indeed a significant difference on the field of view.

Question?
1. If I buy a DX lens (or any brand for that matter), can I still use it on my film body?
2. What would I expect to see through the finder?

Appreciate your reply. Thanks!
