Sony Cybershot DSC-S600 PROBLEM

I have a very annoying problem with this camera!

Everytime I switch it on, an black screen comes up with 'Access' written in the middle of it, and then the camera switches itself off.

This only happens when I am in the modes that allow you to take photos and shoot movies, and NOT when in playback mode.

Can anyone help?

May be wrong, but my first thought is to check the memory card. there could be a little sliding switch on it which prevents the camera from writing to it (so it can't take pictures). This is to protect the pictures which are already on it. Slide the little switch across. just a wild guess.

I have the same problem with my DSC-S600, even when there's no memory card. I've only taken 30 pictures with it or so

i've had the same problem too when i first bought my dsc-s600.

the solution is pretty simple - just get new REALLY GOOD batteries, and you're ready to roll again.

the dsc-s600 eats up much battery for picture n movie shooting.

u should either get rechargeable batteries, or use good alkalines, i use VARTA MAXI TECH alkalines, these are the best in the VARTA line.

As above it sounds like the batteries, but the problem sounds more like you have the wrong type of batteries in the camera.

There are various different types of rechargable battteries.

Check your camera, but i believe your using alkaline batteries when you need Nimh ones.
When you buy some make sure they are rated 2500mv or above as they are best for lasting longer

Another problem maybe that you have caused a problem with the recharging of the batteries,
Rechargeable batteries have a memory of sort, if you use them slightly then recharge them, they are only able to reach that point where u recharged them
You should always complete decharge the batteries in the camera b4 recharging.
