I looked at 20D but the used price was too much in Canada.
I opted for the 30D.
Even a new"refurbished" 20D from Canon thru mailorder supplier was to much compared to the 30D
The 30D has the spot metering added as well anyway.
I am quite sure that a 20D or 30D will take equally good picture(s)
