Size Redux

i have a problem with size, picture size. i have over 400 files. i need to reduce them from the raw files of the d2x to say 140 3x5 approximate so that they will fit with other on a dvd presentation. is there a quick and easy way to batch reduce. i've tried photoshop but after the action is completed, i then have to save each file and indicate medium size. just too much trouble for over 400. does windows have the capacity to batch reduce. thanks for the help. ron

Do you have Nikon Capture?
If so thats the best way to do it.
Just make sure to already have your RAW/NEF files backed up onto a DVD first.

I did the batch conversion for the first time last week. I had over 50 pictures I did for a newspaper and had a deadline to get them to the editor.
I used Nikon Capture batch mode to convert them all to 1950x 1287 jpg files at 300dpi yet still save the nef files.
I made sure to have the jpg file named the same as the nef file but with the jpg extension.

thanks for responding. i do have capture and will give that a shot when i have a little more time to experiment. meanwhile, i created an action in ps that reduced and saved. did all 400 files in a few minutes and that was that. i learn certain helpful things but then when i don't use them for a few weeks or a month or two, i tend to forget how.

thanks again, though. ron.

With that action you created in PS you can create a drop file on your desktop so you can just drag a stack of files and have it run the action in th background without any side work. Just go to file>automate>droplet and select the proper action. Hope this helps you out some.
