Epson Perfection 4490 Office provides automatic document scanning along with advanced photo imaging capabilities at an affordable price

LONG BEACH, Calif., March, 23, 2006 - Epson America, Inc. is announcing the latest addition to its Perfection line of scanners with the Epson Perfection 4490 Office model. This product combines the best of two worlds for small office/home office businesses by adding advanced, automated document scanning capabilities to the Epson Perfection 4490. This model fulfills a broad range of scanning needs with features including an automatic document feeder that holds up to 30 sheets (17 lb. paper, Legal, Letter, A4 or smaller), and film holders that allow for batch scanning of 35mm slides, negatives and film.

Priced at $349 (estimated street price), the Epson Perfection 4490 Office enables customers to scan as fast as three black and white pages per minute at 300 dpi, and as fast as two pages per minute at 300 dpi in full color. For photo imaging applications, the scanner features Epson Easy Photo Fix technology, which provides one-touch color restoration of faded photos, slides and negatives. The scanner also includes built-in Digital ICE Technologies that easily remove scratches and dust from negatives and slides with a single mouse click. Furthermore, the Epson Perfection 4490 Office features hardware resolution of 4800 x 9600 dpi and a 3.4 Dmax rating for superior image quality and detail.

Fully Functional and Easy-To-Use

The automatic document feeder and transparency unit for film scanning are easily inter-changeable by the user. The Epson Scan driver offers four different user modes: Full Auto, Home, Office, and Professional modes. The software automatically detects whether the document feeder or transparency unit is installed on the scanner. The appropriate scanning modes and features are then instantly made available in the software. This ensures that users will be able to scan both documents and photos with maximum ease of use and efficiency.

The scanner also features a robust software package, including Adobe Photoshop Elements, ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus, NewSoft Presto! BizCard, Epson Scan with Epson Easy Photo Fix technology, as well as the Epson creativity suite of applications. The scanner offers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity for fast scanning of documents, photos, slides, and negatives and is compatible with most Windows and Macintosh systems.
