Hi there, I am trying to crop two pictures into one. Can anyone tell me the best software to get for that or how to go about doing it and not having it look like I put them together.


I'm really looking for software like seen in movies where you just click on the persons face or body and it selects the entire area and you can move it to where you want...Kind of like a green screen effect...If you know what I mean.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well I'm not sure if there is a program that will PERFECTLY grab one object and be able to just click and drag it into another picture but I do know what we use in the industry to do that and it's Photoshop, preferebly version 7 and up. It'll cost you about $500 if you buy it straight from adobe or less if you are a current student and purchase it through JourneyED.com.

About the whole click and drag thing, there is a tool called the magic wand in Photoshop and it does an okay job in selecting stuff that is all the same color or tonal range, but it no way can it just select exactly what you want perfectly everytime.

If you look at my photo gallery you'll see a picture where the flower is in color and the abckground is in B&W, that is the principle you are looking for but it took some time to do it. In photoshop you have a tool called the lasso in which you can trace the object and when you're done it's highlighted and you're able to move it from one picture to another or just cut it out and make it it's own picture.

Oh and about the stuff you see in movies, I really dont think there is a program that easy in real life.

In my opinion Photoshop is by far the best programme to use, although I find it very complex and has many more features than I will ever use as an amateur.

I now use Photoshop elements which includes all of the main features of the full version but is scaled down somewhat and is therefore less complex. It is also a fraction of the cost.

I'm sorry to say, but those pieces of software are for movies only

I presume that you actually want to move a person from an image into a scene from another image.

To do something like this and get a realistic result is almost impossible with amateur means.

That is because more often than not the lighting on the person will be totally different as direction, coulour and quality compared with the second image.

Anyway, Adobe Photoshop Elements (drastically cheaper than the full version) and patience.

If possible, try to shoot the image again, it may take less time and give better results.

You might also try Digital Image from Microsoft. It has a lot of the features of other editing programs at a much lower price. You might even be able to download a trial (full featured) version from Microsoft web site.

It's also a LOT easier than PS. I have and use both and for fast user friendly editing, Digital Image wins hands down.
