I need to update from my old Sony Mavica 901 camera. Having an excellent closeup/macro ability is an absolute necessity. Taking good family/vacation/etc photos is important, but secondary to the macro capability. I have been looking at the Nikon 8800. Since this is the Nikon forum I expect you favor Nikons, but I really don't have a preference, I just want a good digital macro camera. Is the Nikon 8800 the best of the non-SLR cameras or should I look elsewhere?
