Digital Lens And Film Lens
Well, I just joined this forum/site today and I already have a question. I have a 28-80mm detachable lens for my old canon film camera. I am going to buy a new digital SLR camera, and it is still a canon, same namebrand as the my old film camera, and the new digital SLR canon camera I was going to buy is about $600. But it is only for the body not with the detachable lens, and with that it cost about 300 more dollars. So I was wondering, since I dont have any more money to buy the whole set, will the same detachable lens that I had for my old film SLR canon fit the new digital SLR canon camera or will it not fit, I am ordering it off of the internet so I cant go take it to a store to actually see it to test to see if it will fit. Both the old SLR film camera and the new digital SLR camera are EOS Rebel, so thats why I figured it might work. Suggestions please. Thanks.

Yes it will work. All Canon EF and EF-S Series lens will work on the new Digital Cameras.

yes it will
If your old film camera was an EOS rebel then it will fit.
You can use any EF lens on the new camera.
I will warn you though, if your old lense are relatively inexpensive they may not do your camera much justice.
I have been shooting with old and inexpensive film lenses for almost a year now and while they do work on my 20d, I have been frustrated by their lack of clairity. I have just upgraded to better quality lenses, although they are still just EF mounts.
(EF-S) is the digital mount.
The other thing is that a small amount of clipping of your images will occur on all four sides of your image, as the canon rebel digital sensor is smaller than the 35mm.
I don't find it noticable or a problem though.
