what would make a memory card go bad in a camera and can it be fixed? its not the camera because the card won't work in several cameras. worked fine and they just quit. can't format. camera can't recognize the card.

The big thing that kills memory cards is magnets and magnetic sources. Kind of like a hard drive because if you ever put a magnet up to it it'll basically never work again. Here are some tips on Memory card safety:

-never get them close to a magnet
-never place them unprotected in a pocket or bag
-never touch the metal contacts
-never get them wet or moist
-never let them get close to a heat source

anyone of those things listed could cause your memory card to become corrupt so be careful with them.

Curious on if magnets hurt the camera, why are manufactures starting to use magnets for mounts on the tripods.

I am looking into purchasing a new mompod/walking stick and this is an option, and I have ready other reviews where people are using them, but the mangets make me nervous being around the camera and the memory cards.

HELP....will the magnet mounts hurt the camera and cards?
