A really big goose

You know it's big when an entire DC3 and many others will fit under one wing

From my last roadtrip...McMinnville, Oregon....the Spruce Goose.

Wow I took me a minute to see the large plane towards the rear and yet still under the wing of the goose …. What an incredible feat of engineering… it boggles the mind that something so large can fly

the pictures really don't do it justice.....the tail elevator is the same size as the entire wing of a B17...they had one of those as well as an SR71 on the other side of the "goose".

You could put the "goose" sideways on a football field and the wings would stick out ten feet on both sides.

Sheila,

If you get the chance to stop by and see this thing......you gots ta do it. The link that Bob left will give you much of the information that I picked up there.......but nothing will give you the idea of the size .......you have got to see it for yourself. In the near future...months only....they are going to have it open on the inside so that a person can walk through it.

Thanks for the link Bob. It is a mind boggling plane.

Bud, not much chance of me seeing it, I'm in Australia I think it would be awe inspiring though.

Really Big

I guess you could say that they really were the days of "iron men and wooden ships". You have got to give old Howard credit. It was a short flight, but he did manage to get it off of the ground. I am usually amazed to see a B52 or a C5 get off of the ground.
