Flower Shaped Lens hood?
I have a Kodak Z740 and I'm planning on buying a UV lens for it. While on ebay, I found an auction where there is a UV lens and a 52mm Flower-Shaped Lens hood. I'm a fairly new photographer (4 years) and I was just wondering what this lens hood will do. Is it just an adaptor for the UV lens, or does it serve a different purpose? I'm a little confused, thanks in advance!

The hood is used to stop stray light from entering the lens. The benefits are better color saturation, less risk of flare, and some additional lens protection. I use hoods on all my lenses (except the cheap lens that came with the camera) and I recommend them. Now, what you'll want to be sure of is that you won't see the hood in your photos. If the hood is too long or not wide enough, you'll see a dark ring around your photo. If the hood was made for your camera, you should be fine.
Good luck and welcome to the site

Hey thanks for the info. What about the UV lens though? Is that seperate from the hood or do you use it with it?

It should be a seperate thing from the hood. The filter will go on the threads of the lens and the hood will go outside of that.

Your KODAK adapter is a 55mm thread. So to put a 52mm on you'll need a step down ring. All the KODAK filters and add on lenses are 55mm. The Oly T-CON that works so good with KODAK 55mm threaded cameras is again 55mm. If your going to buy a different size, I'd go bigger and a step up ring.
