Well, your problem really is a simple one. While shooting softball under lights or basketball, you just don't have the light needed to stop the action. Outside in the daytime, though, you have plentiful light to shoot about anything. The typical suggestions you'll get is to use a lens with a bigger aperture and use a higher ISO. Without knowing what you're shooting with, it's hard to make specific suggestions.
