Unhappy S5000 Moon Photos???

OK so i have been trying my hardest lately to take a photo of the moon, its been really nice outside and the moon as been in full view, but everytime i try and take a picture of it, it comes out like a flashlight pointing at my camera, any tips on how i can get a photo of the moon, like the way i see it, with craters and stuff......i cant even get the moon to be clean in the viewfinder, help!

Thumbs up

I used ISO 64, 57mm, 1/256, f1/3

Also had an Olympus TCON 17 attached, the result is...

Was with a S5500 however, not 5000, not much diff though

I also have a question on taking pics of the moon.
I am using a S5200. When I take a shot of the moon at night, it comes out exactly as I see it with the naked eye. Bright white, almost blue.
However, when I see shots taken by professionals, the moon always seems to have a yellowish tint to it. Is this in the settings, or are they using some sort of filter?

Thanks
Jim

Remember the moon is reflecting sunlight. So you need to set exposure for daylight conditions. Practice makes perfect & I'm still practicing.
